What this is
Essentially this is just an extended description of the world I created am in the process of creating for my online D&D campaign. I am still very new to the world of RPGs so there will be many mistakes, changes, and updates to come. I will do my best to keep things accurate, logical, and consistent, but I'm going to be relying a lot on my players to guide me along and catch me when I trip up.
I've been having a brilliant time with Azan so far and I'm looking forward to (trying to) develop it into a proper, fully-fledged fantasy world.
What is Azan?
If you're here, I'm assuming you're one of my players and therefore already know what Azan is. If not, well… I'm a little confused as to why you're still reading but… go ahead an knock yourself out!
So, to tell you what you already know: Azan is a fantasy setting for D&D 3.5 based on bronze age Greece. Most of the rules changes, new playable races, magic, prestige classes, etc. have come directly out of a wonderful book I picked up at a con, Relics & Rituals: Olympus. Brilliant book! Anyway, that gave me all the rules and mechanics I needed for this game. So, I started building a world around it, with plenty of meddlesome gods but very little actual magic. There's still not much more to it than a small city and a few caves (and a very vague, general idea of what surrounds them) but I'm working on it!
I hadn't intended on starting a game until after I'd gotten at least a little more of the world built (and actually read the Dungeon Master's Guide and learned the rules) but, things never quite do go the way I plan. So, here I am, DMing my very first game, frantically trying to learn the rules and build a world for them before my players very suddenly find themselves at the edge of the earth!
So, there you have it! That's the short answer to the question. For the long answer? Well… that's why I created this site!
